Caring for your silver
Silver darkens when it meets air and moisture. A little care keeps it bright for years.
Everyday
- Put jewellery on last, after perfume, lotion and hairspray.
- Take it off before bathing, swimming or exercising.
- Wipe each piece with a soft, dry cotton cloth after wearing.
Storing
- Keep pieces in their gift box or a closed pouch, away from moisture.
- Store pieces separately so they don’t scratch each other.
- A small packet of silica gel in the box helps in humid weather.
Cleaning
- For light tarnish, use a silver polishing cloth.
- Wash with mild soap and lukewarm water, rinse, and dry completely.
- Avoid toothpaste, baking soda and harsh dips on oxidised or stone-set pieces.
Oxidised and antique finishes are darkened on purpose. Clean them gently with a dry cloth only, so the finish stays.
